The Gate-Stones of Lunestriel
The half-living children of vampires birthed by human females, Dhampirs arrived in Lunestriel like their human relatives, by way of the Gate-Stones. Thus Dhampirs are of the Dowmarii. Due to the unique nature of humans, Dhampirs are only recorded as having been birthed by humans.
The exact nature of a dhampir’s birth is often questioned, as few mothers survive the birth and most of the rest abandon the child and refuse to speak of it. Despite their vampiric heritage, Dhampirs live and die just as ordinary beings, though they possess exceptionally long lives, often outliving even elves up to ages of 600. They range in heights typical of humans at 4’6" to 6’6" feet tall and weigh 100 to 210 pounds. Their eyes, hair, and skin are unnerving versions of their mother’s features. Those with pale skin, often appear ghostly in sunlight and those with darker complexions often possess the color of a bruise. All dhampirs have elongated incisors. They often appear as statuesque versions of humans. They can pass as humans in ideal conditions, but their fluid grace and pronounced features can give them away.
Dhampirs have no culture or society of their own. They are born in secret and are generally left to die. Those that do survive grow up adopting the culture of those around them. This gives dhampirs a strong ability to adapt. This combined with their heritage’s unearthly seductive powers gives dhampirs a unique charm. With little ties to society, dhampirs often become adventurers; they often become rogues and warriors.
