The Gate-Stones of Lunestriel
Just as is the case with the Avians and the Aaenshi, the Terpans were among the original races that called Lunestriel their home before the arrival of the Dowmarii, which means “Portal-Born” in Ancient Lunerii. The Terpans are of the Lomarii, meaning “Lunar-Born” in Ancient Lunerii. Like the Aaenshi, they are an old race in Lunestriel.
Physically imposing, Terpans are bipedal reptilian creatures and stand about 6 to 7 feet tall, weighing anywhere from 250 to 350 pounds. For all appearances, they are essentially giant tortoises. They have a blunt snout and a sharp beak-like mouth. Their large eyes are nearly always solid black. The main part of their body is covered by a large shell, which acts as natural armor. They have solid, tough arms and legs. They have three thick fingers as well as a thumb. Terpans also have three large, blunt toes facing forward and one facing behind. The rest of their body is covered in scales, ranging in color from tan, brown, grey, black, green, and of all sorts of hues of said colors. A Terpan will reach adulthood by the age of 80 and many live to be 400 years old.
Terpans are very methodical and considering. They are often slow to act, but once a decision has been reached they become very determined. In doing something, they are absolutely thorough in doing it. Terpans are very wise and patient.
Terpans tend to live in harsh desert climates. They tend to build their towns around a water source. They have very intricate systems of irrigation which distribute water to their crops and their towns. Several of their large cities lie along the ocean, where they trade with many merchant ships. They are quite peaceful, but in battle their size makes them deadly. They are led by elders within the community which govern by wise decision making and sound logic.
